As an Agored Cymru Approved Centre and for and on behalf of Partner Centres, Centralia starts from a position of trusting in the professionalism of the tutors and all other staff involved in the presentation of its courses, and this trust underlies any attempt to handle questions which raise potential conflicts of interest.
In order to protect individual learners of Centralia and Partner Centres, from compromise, it is both necessary and helpful to put in place a policy to deal with Conflicts of Interest
A potential conflict of interest occurs when there is a divergence between an individual's private interests and his or her professional obligations such that an independent observer might reasonably question whether the individual's professional judgment, commitment, actions, or decisions could be influenced by considerations of personal gain, financial or otherwise.
The Aims of the Conflict of Interest Policy will include:
The aim of the policy is to protect the name of Agored Cymru, Centralia and all Partner Centres and to clarify the fact that everything done by Tutors and administrative staff is in good faith and is for the benefit of all Learners, Agored Cymru, Centralia and all Partner Centres.
A conflict of interest may create a problem e.g. Tutor and Learner know each other well and/or may be related and decisions regarding the results of assignment work may give the impression that a Training Centre has acted improperly in the assessment process.
Recognising a Conflict of Interest:
All Centralia and Partner Centre Tutors and administration staff, must make a declaration of Conflict of Interest to ensure that no personal interest, or the interest of anyone else, will override the best practice of Centralia and its Partner Centres.
The Declaration of Conflict of Interest and its resolution must be recorded, signed and stored securely.
